Course description
Montessori teacher training enables teachers to understand children between 6 and 9 years, prepare a stimulating classroom and assist them in their development according to the Montessori philosophy.

Course Delivery
The course includes 200 hours of online lectures and 120 hours of supervised Montessori Material practice, and 20 hours of Material Preparation. In addition, 10 hours of Montessori classroom observation will be scheduled.

Offline at VMTI (Practice) Sat. 2.00pm to 5.30pm
Certificate
The certificate is issued by Indian Institute for Montessori Studies (IIMS), the first Montessori training institute to start 6 - 12 Montessori training in India. IIMS was the first institution that brought back Montessori Primary to India after Dr Montessori's time. It collaborates with government institutions, conducts research, affiliates and supports Montessori training institutes.

- Registered candidates will be called for the interview
- Admission of selected candidates will be confirmed upon payment of the course fee
- Submission of the RTPCR COVID test report 72 hours before the first offline practice session.

Description |
| Pre-primary Foundation |
Candidates without Montessori background are required to attend a Pre-primary Foundation, which is not required for the ones with Montessori Pre-primary Diploma. However it is recommended for all. The Foundation course helps the student trainees with the theory needed to understand where the 6-year-olds are coming from, what, why and how they have learnt and achieved in the earlier 3 to 6 Montessori classroom. |
| Psychology and Theory |
These lectures answer the questions related to the child's nature, characteristics, and needs between 6 and 12 years, The human tendencies that satisfy their needs, how their psychological character is built etc.? |
| Cosmic Education |
Subjects are presented as a part of integrated curriculum rather than water tight individual compartments. The lectures help to see how everything in the world is interconnected and interrelated. |
| Language English |
Language is an essential part of our culture and human existence. the development of Language, speaking, writing, and reading, understanding the function of words in a sentence and how to structure them, self-expression in the form of short essays, stories, narratives, and descriptions, |
| Indian Language |
Montessori way of presenting Kannada, Hindi could be presented to students at demand. It is not included in the schedule. |
| Biology |
The plants and animals are a part of our life. They are our ancestors and have several stories to share. They are a part of the magnificent Cosmic Plan. The study of plants and animals begins with the taxonomy, functions and classification that ends in ecology. |
| Mathematics Arithmetic and Algebra |
Enjoy mathematics as a part of human culture that has a long history. Higher-level Arithmetic activities like LCM, HCF, Binomial Squaring, Cubing, Powers, Square Roots and Factors through activities, leading the child to abstraction using only pen and paper without Montessori materials. Learn why we multiply while dividing fractions and divide while multiplying? |
| Geometry
|
Students will be helped to see shapes in their daily life and their relationships. The congruent, similar, equivalent figures, how to find out the number of tiles required to cover your bedroom, the area of the carpet required etc. and the importance of the three basic figures. |
| Supervised Practice |
Supervised Practice with Montessori Materials is conducted every Saturday during the second session. The candidate gets hands-on experience in using the material and how to use it with the children under the guidance of a trained Vidyanjali’s staff. Whenever possible more hours of practice is recommended. |
| Reading and Discussion Sessions |
There are no textbooks available. Hence, students are expected to read the books and related them while writing and practicing. |
| Observations
|
Students are expected to observe children in the Montessori classroom setting or online class for 1 hour per day for a duration of ten days. |
Eligibility for Certification
IIMS Diploma is awarded upon satisfactory completion of the course requirement.
- Minimum of 90% attendance in online classes
- 120 hours of supervised practice
- 10 hours of Observation and report
- Successful submission of Material Files in all areas, materials made, and reports submitted.
